Deacon Ministry
"... Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you." Joshua 3:5
Circle Drive’s deacons serve as a body and not as a “board.” The Biblical model for the deacon is servanthood – ministers performing ministry. Circle Drive is a pastoral-staff led church. The deacons “come alongside” of the pastoral staff in order to serve the church family. Deacons are elected for 3 year terms. After they have served this period, they “rotate off” and are eligible to be re-elected after one year.
Each deacon serves on a “Deacon Ministry Team.” These teams include:
- Baptist Ministry Team – assist the pastor in baptism.
- Benevolence Ministry Team – provide financial assistance to members of the church who have a need.
- Evangelism Ministry Team – coordinate Sunday afternoon visitation of guests by deacons.
- Fellowship Ministry Team – facilitate regular New Members receptions.
- Barnabas Ministry Team – visit those in our church family who are in need of encouragement due to difficult circumstances.
- Widow/Widowers/Shut in Ministry Team – provide regular visits for these special members of our church family.
- LORD’s Supper Ministry Team – provide leadership whenever the LORD’s Supper is observed.
Our deacons’ wives are also servants. They comprise our Care Ministry Team. These ladies coordinate meals for funeral services.
